Using a matched comparison group design, researchers evaluated whether teachers who attended PL sessions used Newsela more frequently and more deeply than teachers who did not.

- Teachers who returned to Newsela within 30 days of PL used the platform over 4× more than non-returners
- PL participants were 50% more likely to grade writing responses
