Dan Winston

Chief Community Officer

Dan brings over 25 years of business expertise to the Newsela Team. As founder and CEO of CCT Group, Inc., he consulted for a variety of companies ranging from start-ups to Fortune 50 corporations along with public sector clients. Among Dan’s clients were GE Capital, MetLife, Intuit, Consumer Reports, Chase, Prudential, Accenture, Merck, IBM, and American Express. His first SaaS engagement was over ten years ago. Dan helped build NYC 311 and has worked closely with the NYC Department of Education on a number of initiatives; specific projects there included interim assessments, parent engagement and special education. He has also done extensive work for Newark Public Schools and the Foundation for Newark’s Future.

Prior to founding CCT Group, Dan was a Vice President at Citibank where he worked closely with its U.S. retail banks on technology, operations, and strategic planning.

Dan’s expertise is in business planning and operations, sales, marketing, and business development and he has worked with every level of organizations, from C-level, to support operations. He holds a B.S. in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University. He and his wife Lori, an art teacher, live in Scarsdale, NY, and have three children.
